Route 5 : Kaapsehoop - Geo Trail (Border Swaziland)

Distance

115 km (One Way)

Difficulty

Easy

About the Route

This route takes you to the awesome Geotrail, a perfect winding road through one of the oldest and best preserved sequence of volcanic and sedimentary rocks on earth. If you are interested in these kind of things, you will enjoy the information you will find on the boards everywhere along the route. If history/geology is not your thing, you will equally enjoy this route because of the amazing scenery and lovely riding. The route is all tarred and easy to ride, it brings you to the Swaziland border post at the top. We were not able to cross the border at that point (only in possession of a learners license) so we turned around and did the same route back. But if you want, it is possible to either cross the border into Swaziland OR you can take a lovely gravel road to the right as you get close to the border. This takes you down/along the mountain and you can make a loop back to Barberton if you wish.
